UPDATE: The watch has been upgraded to a warning. As of 1:23 a.m. Sunday, Environment Canada says meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

“This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Gage to 15 km west of Crooked Creek and is moving to the northeast at 60 km/h. A strong gust front is moving to the east ahead of this line where severe winds are also possible.”

Another severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge- Valleyview region. Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

“Thunderstorms are expected to develop along parts of western Alberta this afternoon. Thunderstorms are expected to move slowly eastward into the evening and overnight periods. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe.”
