Catholic School District starting plans for new school

With a new K-9 school on the way for the Grande Prairie Catholic School District, officials have a lot of planning and decisions to make.

Superintendent Karl Germann says they have already hit the ground running with plans for the design of the new school.

He says the province offers a variety of plans as a jumping off point.

“We’ve been spending the last few weeks looking at what’s out there and what we can copy and what we might modify. It’s really an interesting process. Hopefully we can open by 2016 but we’ll see; it might push to 2017, but we’d rather do it right that do it really fast.”

The new school will be built in the Royal Oaks neighborhood, an area that has seen growing enrollment pressure over the past few years.
