Peace region athletes competing in Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games

The Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games kick off in Lethbridge tonight, welcoming more than 1,100 athletes from across the province.

More than 100 are representing Peace Region, including 34 from Grande Prairie alone.

Over the next three days, Albertans over the age of 55 will compete in activities, from carpet bowling to shuffleboard.

Women’s indoor soccer is also a new addition.

Unfortunately, due to the mild weather, the alpine skiing and cross-country skiing events have been cancelled.

The games are held each year to encourage people to get involved in athletic, physical and social activities, no matter what their age.
