MP Warkentin appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services

Chris Warkentin has gotten a promotion.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced Monday that he has appointed the Peace River MP to the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services.

In his new role, he’ll help the cabinet minister with their duties, including handling routine matters in the House of Commons and engaging in committee work.

“The department of Public Works is such a large department; it’s one that has an impact on every Canadian’s life, and certainly it’s going to take some to fully understand and grasp the entire breadth of the department and the work that we do, but I certainly look forward to serving this new role.”

Warkentin has served as Chair of the Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Committee since 2011.

His replacement will be announced soon.
