Poor weather wreaking havoc on Peace Region roads

UPDATE: RCMP say the westbound lanes of Highway 43 at Range Road 71 have been re-opened to traffic after a serious collision between two semis earlier this morning.

The extent of the injuries of the two drivers is not known at this time.

RCMP are warning drivers that Highway 43 is in extremely poor condition due to fog and ice.

Police are currently responding to multiple collisions on the highway both east and west of the city.

If you don’t have to be out on the roads today, police advise staying home.

If you are out on the highways, RCMP say make sure to slow down and leave room between yourself and other drivers.

Emergency crews are currently at a scene near Range Road 71 on Highway 43 where two semis are blocking westbound traffic.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes for the time being until crews are able to get things cleaned up.
