RCMP urging drivers to slow down when passing emergency crews

In recent weeks local RCMP have been monitoring the speeds at which drivers are passing working emergency crews, and say they are seeing some alarming behavior.

By law in Alberta, when passing emergency responders who have their equipment activated, drivers must slow down to 60 kilometers an hour or the posted limit, whichever is slower.

RCMP say since they have started monitoring those speeds, they have issued a number of violations to those neglecting to slow down, and will continue to focus efforts on reminding drivers of the rule, and to make sure they are not endangering the lives of first responders.
