City working to address further concerns over annexation

Concerns over children having to switch school, road maintenance and paving projects, and the freedom to maintain a rural lifestyle are a few of the concerns raised by County of Grande Prairie residents over annexation.

Earlier this week the city’s Community Growth Committee heard a summary of some of the concerns voiced during last fall’s annexation merit hearing.

Some concerns, such as the protection of farmland, have already been considered by the city, but there are others that will need to be addressed should short-term annexation be approved.

Administration has been asked to start working on bylaws that could be enacted once a decision is reached by the Municipal Government Board.
