While their peers are enjoying their lunch break today, a group of students from Ridgevalley School are instead be cooking and serving lunch for the Salvation Army soup kitchen in Grande Prairie.
Ridgevalley teacher Chrissy Armbruster says the idea to feed the less fortunate was completely the students’ idea.
The 16 junior high students and two senior high student-assistants decided on their own what to cook, and took care of the planning and shopping.
They prepared a meal of stew, biscuits and chocolate cookies at school, that is being served at the Sally Anne from 11:30 to 12:30.
They’ll also be delivering a dozen bags of clothing they collected earlier this school year.
