Mayor Given weighs in on Northern Gateway Pipeline

Mayor Bill Given was one of a number of regional officials take part and speak with the Northern Gateway Peace Region Community Advisory Board during a meeting on Monday.

Given talked about the impact the pipeline would have in the region, not just during construction, but in the long term as well.

“On an ongoing basis, there’s a lasting impact in the form of property taxes that would be paid by that pipeline. It’s obviously an issue where there’s a little bit different scale or scope than perhaps the board had thought of before.”

Given says he was able to offer a different angle to the Community Advisory Board than they might necessarily have considered before.
