Grande Prairie man charged after weapons allegedly found during traffic stop

A Grande Prairie man is facing a number of charges after weapons were allegedly found during a traffic stop. On December 10th, police were patrolling in Clairmont when they saw a suspicious vehicle.

When they pulled over the vehicle they discovered the licence plate had been stolen. While the driver was being held by police, he tried to run and was arrested. During a search of the man’s vehicle, police say they found a revolver, knife, bear spray and a concealed gun holster.

36-year-old Jeante Maddox is facing a number of charges including careless use of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Maddox is in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 18th.
