Two charged following traffic stop in Clairmont

A man and a woman from Grande Prairie have been charged following a traffic stop in Clairmont. On December 5th, rural RCMP noticed a suspicious vehicle and pulled it over.

Both the driver and a female passenger were arrested and a search of the car turned up what police say were items associated with drug trafficking. They included 15 grams of meth, 2 grams of fentanyl, brass knuckles and two knives and around $500 cash.

25-year-old Jesse Derksen is facing a number of charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ammunition contrary to order and driving a vehicle without insurance. 20-year-old Shayanne Gross was charged with obstructing a peace officer.

Derksen was in police custody and appeared in court on December 9th. Gross was released and was expected to appear in court on December 11th.
