Alberta Health Services has confirmed one person with a lab-confirmed case of influenza has died in northern Alberta. It’s the first death in the North Zone this flu season and one of three across Alberta. The others were Calgary and Edmonton.
AHS has not released details about the age, hometown, or potential pre-existing conditions of the deceased.
So far this flu season, AHS says it has 56 recorded cases of Influenza A in northern Alberta, along with 15 confirmed cases of Influenza B. More than 90,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the region.
