Reductions to Grande Prairie Transit routes to begin in January

Big changes are coming to several Grande Prairie Transit routes starting on January 6, 2020. The two express routes servicing the Grande Prairie Composite High School as well as St. Joseph Catholic High School and Charles Spencer will be eliminated.

Passengers on the Comp route can continue to take Route 2 buses, which will be available every 30 minutes during peak periods. For riders at the other two schools, Route 3 will continue to serve both, and students in Crystal Lake can travel to the Prairie Mall, where they can catch a transfer to the area at 7:35 a.m.

For passengers on Routes 1 through 4, the last bus in service from Monday to Saturday will leave from Town Centre Mall for drop-offs only at 9:15 p.m. The changes were made after Grande Prairie City Council approved a roughly $500,000 adjustment in the transit budget as part of its 2020 municipal budget.
