Beaverlodge Rexall looking to spread some Christmas cheer to local seniors

After the tremendous success of the Stockings for Seniors program happening at London Drugs in Grande Prairie, the Rexall location in Beaverlodge is looking to give back in a similar way.

The program, which kicked off December 6th, allows members of the public to pick up a gift tag with the wishlist of a local senior, they buy the items and return them to Rexall by December 18th.

Beaverlodge Rexall Store Manager Amanda Rush says it was important for them to highlight the need to bring Christmas cheer for the local senior population.

“There are so many seniors in Beaverlodge that don’t go to Grande Prairie so they may not be included with that, and we thought it would be something nice to do for the community.” She adds with between 20 and 30 tags already picked up and spoken for, they need more names to help fill in the remaining stockings.

“It’s actually been incredibly successful, we are actually looking for more seniors, as all the ones we’ve got signed up have been taken off the tree.”

Rush says if they end up with a surplus of goods, it certainly won’t go to waste.

“Anything extra that we have that does come we can always put into our Christmas Hamper for the food bank here in Beaverlodge as well because they do a program for low-income families at Christmas time as well.”

More than 600 London Drugs Stocking Stuffers for Seniors tags were taken within the first 10 days of becoming available.
