Man sentenced to just over two years in jail after stolen property found

UPDATE: As of December 23rd, Willier has been sentenced to 180 days in jail less time served and must pay a $200 fine. She has 163 days left in jail. 

A Grande Prairie man who was arrested after a large amount of stolen property was found in Clairmont and the MD of Greenview has been sentenced to just over two years in jail.

30-year-old Jeremi Daniel Riopka was given the 29-month sentence less time served in a Grande Prairie courtroom on December 4th for a number of charges including possession of stolen property both under and over $5,000. A number of other charges against him were dropped. He has two years left on his sentence.

On August 27th, RCMP arrested a man and a woman at a campsite in the MD of Greenview where officers recovered a stolen pickup truck, a stolen travel trailer, a stolen quad, and thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods.

Following the arrest, police also searched a storage unit in Clairmont and found a large quantity of stolen property they believe was taken during multiple rural break and enters over the past several weeks.

The woman that was also arrested, 23-year-old Tabatha Whitney Willier, is scheduled to be back in court in Grande Prairie on December 23rd.
