Former Finance Minister Doug Horner retiring from politics

Long-time Alberta PC Party member Doug Horner has announced his resignation.

In a letter posted on his Facebook page, the Spruce Grove – St. Albert MLA and former Finance Minister announced he will not be running in the next election, and will be done with politics as of January 31st.

In 2011, Horner ran against Alison Redford and Gary Mar for leadership of the PC Party, but finished third.

At 54, he has served 14 years in the legislature in multiple portfolios, including agriculture and education.
