Three charged following mail theft investigation

Grande Prairie RCMP has so far laid charges against three people following reports from concerned citizens about mail being stolen. Mounties say they received a number of calls related to the Highland Park neighbourhood, and got a warrant to search a property.

During the search of the home, police allegedly found 46 pieces of mail, all belonging to 46 different people. Authorities say they also seized a cell phone, store scanner, dirt bike, cheques, three credit cards, two passports, and an Alberta driver’s license; all previously reported stolen.

41-year-old Nathan Jones and 31-year-old Daryl Pearson, both of Grande Prairie, have been charged with possession of stolen mail, possession of stolen property. 37-year-old Chris Hanson has been charged with possession of ammunition while prohibited.

Police say charges are pending against two other people.
