2014 record year for home sales in Grande Prairie

A record number of homes were sold by realtors in the Grande Prairie area last year.

3,363 homes changed hands in 2014, up more than 17 per cent over 2013.

147 properties were sold in December, and the average sale price was also a record at over $332,000.

The Grande Prairie and Area Association of REALTORS says it was the strongest December since 2006, even though activity slowed down at the end of the year.

Residential sales in all of Alberta were up as well, 8.6 per cent in 2014.
