Art Gallery of Grande Prairie launching two new exhibitions

Two new exhibitions are set to begin at The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie; the first, a solo exhibit from a Grande Prairie-based artist, and the second a group show about youth and rebellion.

Grande Prairie born Candace Sanderson’s first major gallery exhibition, ‘A Common Reality’ explores visible and invisible structures that hold women back and is intended as an acknowledgement of how different experiences are based on gender.

The second exhibit, ‘Sonic Youth’, is a group show involving 13 artists and revolves around the role of youth in the avant-garde, with highlights about making noise, disrupting the peace and challenging the concept of the status quo.

“We’re really honoured to be involved with Candace Sanderson’s first major show. She’s an exciting talent in our community,” says gallery Executive Director Jeff Erbach. ‘Sonic Youth’ is a dazzling, fun, engaging exhibition for our young community.”
