UPDATE: The hold and secure has ended.
Harry Balfour School has been placed under a Hold and Secure due to heavy police presence patrolling in the area around the school.
Peace Wapiti Public School Division officials say they’re taking extra precautions and have placed the school under Hold and Secure to ensure student safety while officials conduct their work.
A hold and secure is a response to an unrelated threat or incident in close proximity to the school, but taking place outside of the school itself.
Access to and from the school will continue to be closely monitored until enforcement officials give notice that the situation has ended.
