Check stops lead to the arrest of eight impaired drivers in January

Grande Prairie RCMP continues to crack down on impaired drivers.

Through check stops throughout the city and outlying rural areas, eight impaired drivers were caught, and police handed out eight 24 hour suspensions for alcohol, four 24 hour suspensions for drugs, and a 72 hour Immediate Roadside Suspension.

Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada, and apprehending the culprits is a top priority for police.

Anyone who suspects they are following an impaired driver is encouraged to call 9-1-1 from a hands free phone.
