UPDATE: Highways 43, 43X, 40, 59 reopen following earlier crashes

UPDATE: Alberta 511 says Highway 43, 43X and Highway 40 have been reopened following earlier crashes.
Several local highways have been shut down by multiple crashes.
511 Alberta reports Highway 43 and Highway 43X from Grande Prairie is closed, along with Highway 40 from Grande Prairie to the Cutbank River. Highway 59 has also been closed four kilometres east of La Glace.
Grande Prairie RCMP has asked drivers in the area not to travel due to icy roads caused by freezing rain. A freezing rain warning is in effect for the region and school buses were cancelled for the day.
