Western Alberta unemployment rate drops to 5.8 per cent

The unemployment rate in western Alberta dropped for the month of October. Statistics Canada says the economic region which houses Grande Prairie and Peace River sat at 5.8 per cent for the month, down from 5.9 in September, and up from 5.3 per cent from October 2018.

Alberta’s overall unemployment rate meanwhile dipped to 6.6 per cent from 6.7 per cent in September. The Canadian national average stayed steady at 5.5 per cent, with no change from the previous month.
