UPDATE: Winter storm warning issued for Grande Prairie area

UPDATE: The winter storm watch for Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview has been upgraded to a winter storm warning.

Environment Canada says a series of low pressure systems moving in from the Pacific will bring heavy snow to portions of northwestern Alberta beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend.

The first system will develop overnight on Thursday and into Friday morning which will bring some rain with a risk of freezing rain.

Cold arctic air will then move into the province Friday afternoon as the next low develops over the Peace Region bringing snow. Snow is expected to continue through Friday night and begin to taper off Sunday morning.
