Grande Prairie part of province-wide community builder initiative

Grande Prairie has been selected to take part in the “Becoming a Community Leader” community capacity building initiative.

The 15 week professional development program is free of charge for anyone in the city to take part in.

Donelda Laing, the City’s Community Social Development Manager, says it is an online program with components for both adults and high school students.

“You just have to register online, and then you get the five video streaming events, you get coaching, there’s blogs, there’s emails. He follows it up with a lot of learning tools.”

More than 20 local community organizations have thrown their support behind this initiative, which Laing says was a big reason why Grande Prairie was selected to take part in it.

It begins March 28th.

You can register now by going to www.register.becomingacommunitybuilder.ca.
