RCMP warning of potentially hazardous driving conditions
Drivers on 110 Street in Grande Prairie (Emma Mason MyGrandePrairieNow.com staff)
Grande Prairie RCMP is warning drivers to slow down due to potentially hazardous road conditions. Because of recent rain, snow, and freezing temperatures, roads and highways may be icy and snow-covered in some spots. Reduced visibility may also be expected.
RCMP suggest that drivers consider the following tips during their commute.
Ensure all windows, side mirrors, and lights are properly and completely cleared of snow.
Make sure lights are turned on.
Slow down and give yourself more time to stop.
Plan extra time to get to your destination.
Be prepared for changing road and weather conditions. Pack blankets or a winter survival kit, especially if you are planning a trip outside of town.
In order to help road conditions, city snow clearing crews are currently out sanding and salting icy areas on priority 1 and 2 routes.
