Women ages 50 to 74 can get free mammograms this November when the Screen Test Mobile Screening trailer rolls into Valleyview and Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast that is used to find breast cancer. Early detection can allow for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival.
The Screen Test program goes around to northern Alberta communities where mammograms may not be readily available to patients and offers the cancer screening for free.
The mobile mammography trailer will be stationed at the Sturgeon Lake Health Centre on November 21st. It will then be at the Valleyview Health Centre on November 22nd, 25th, 26th and 27th.
Women looking to find out more about the program or book an appointment can call 1-800-667-0604.
