Nitehawk prepping for annual ski swap

Nitehawk Recreation Area’s annual Ski Swap is coming up this weekend.

The two-day sale event gives residents across the region a chance to unload their old gear for some cash, with the hope it can help others, especially kids, and give them a chance to get into the sport without it costing a fortune.

“Lots of people, they just don’t want it in their basement anymore so they’re going to set low prices. It’s a great way to get into the sport or even upgrade to new gear for a low cost,” says Assistant General Manager Drew Rogers.

Rogers says anything is welcome including skis, snowboards and accessories related to the sport. He adds it’s something they look forward to every year, not only to get more interest in their activities but to also help create a new generation of potential winter athletes.

“There are so many people who have lots of gear who are just sitting on and may not be using it anymore, especially kids gear, its a great place for that.”

People can drop off used gear at the Tara Centre on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with the sale itself taking place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
