Engineering contract for new sports fields, Eastlink Centre parking awarded

The City has hired an engineering firm to oversee the development of a new football field and parking lots near the Eastlink Centre.

Community Services Director Garry Roth says the new parking lots will move between 80 and 100 staff vehicles to make more room for customers.

“As well as it also creates a new parking area on the west side of the Eastlink Centre, kind of west over where the new high school is being built. The intent of that would be overflow parking for the Eastlink Centre as well as providing parking for future football field development that’s going to happen on the west.”

The RFP has been awarded to GP-based ISL Engineering and Land Services for just more than $330,000.

In total the work in the area should come in around $5 million.

It’s hoped construction will start in the spring.
