Former GPRC Wolves coach lands full time gig at University of Lethbridge

The former head coach of the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves Women’s Basketball team has taken over the reins of the University of Lethbridge Longhorns.

Dave Waknuk, who spent 10 years leading the Wolves sideline and took them to a 2011 ACAC Championship, has been named Head Coach of the Longhorns women’s program.

Waknuk, who lead the team to a 12-8 record in an interim role in 2018, tells the school’s website he is grateful for the opportunity.

On top of the championship banner now hanging in the rafters, Waknuk was also named ACAC Coach of the Year in 2011 during his tenure in Grande Prairie.
