Wildrose MLA holding town hall on grain backlog in Sexsmith

The ever increasing grain backlog, and the challenges that it is providing to local farmers trying to get their crops to market is sure to be a popular topic at a special town hall meeting tomorrow.

Wildrose MLA Drew Barnes brings his party’s Grains Tour to Sexsmith Wednesday, looking to hear all concerns that local farmers have.

The Cypress/Medicine Hat MLA says it is time to figure out who is at fault, and to get it solved so grain can start moving once again.

“It’s time to get to the bottom of this and it’s time to get grain moving. I’ve heard a lot of concern that so much oil is being moved by rail now that it’s been a problem, and I think it’s important to make sure that we get this moving.”

Barnes says he also wants to hear about other issues for local producers, such as Country of Origin Labelling, access to market, and specialty product challenges.

The meeting begins at noon tomorrow at the Sexsmith Community Centre.
