Low oil prices may lead Alberta into a recession

The Conference Board of Canada says Alberta could be heading for a recession.

Although consumers love it at the pumps, cheap gas puts Alberta’s oil companies in a tough position, and some are already cutting spending.

Oil closed at $46 a barrel on Monday, and the board says even if oil prices rebound to $65 a barrel the province would still be at risk.
