Grande Prairie RCMP links 60 reports of B&Es

A trove of stolen things has reportedly been discovered by Grande Prairie RCMP. Police say they were able to link roughly 60 reports of break and enters in the area between July 11th and October 4th based on similarities, leading to a search warrant on a home and vehicle.

The RCMP reports several stolen items were found, including multiple safes and cash registers, of which many are connected to businesses. Also in the cache were guns, a stolen truck, ID and passports, as well as break and enter tools and other property reported stolen.

49-year-old Yvan Landry and 38-year-old Clifford Dranchuk, both of Grande Prairie, are facing a host of charges related to breaking and entering, wearing disguises, and possession of stolen property offences. Dranchuk is also charged with firearms-related offences. The two men are still in RCMP custody and are set to appear in court of October 21st.

Police are thanking the public for their help in the investigation so far, and note they are still looking to several more commercial and residential B&Es in the area.

“When crime occurs, citizens and business owners have an important role in reporting these incidents,” urges Staff Sergeant Mike Lefebvre. “By providing video surveillance, serial numbers, and other critical information to police, the public assists us in locating those involved and increases the odds of holding them responsible.”

Officers are still looking to find the owners of much of the stolen property. Anyone who has had anything stolen from them is encouraged to report them to the detachment, along with serial numbers and any other identifying information.
