CPC candidate Chris Warkentin vying for 5th term in office

Conservative candidate Chris Warkentin says he is taking nothing for granted from as he is looking for his fifth term in office as Member of Parliament for the Grande Prairie – Mackenzie riding. Warkentin, who was first elected in the old Peace River riding in 2006, says that in his 13 years in office, he has tried to live by one mantra.

“I have to continuously earn and re-earn the support of constituents, and I believe it’s an honour and privilege for me to represent constituents of the Peace County in Ottawa,” he says. “I never want to lose focus as to who my boss; my boss is the constituents, and I never want to lose focus of that.”

He adds the sometimes fiery rhetoric seen and heard at the leadership level isn’t something he wants to get involved in at the local level but believes the voices of his potential voters are being heard loud and clear when it comes to how they feel about the most recent government in power.

“People feel that the work they do has been undermined and unappreciated by the current government, and I’ve never seen so intense as I do right now.”
