11,000 loads of snow hauled in Grande Prairie so far this winter

Grande Prairie got a record snowfall of 13.2 centimetres on Saturday, and city crews worked through the weekend to clear main roads.

They’re now moving on to priority two bus routes and collectors today, and will be plowing and picking up windrows for the rest of the week.

Residential snow removal won’t start over again until Monday, but any areas that weren’t plowed last week will see crews this week, the day before their garbage removal.

So far this winter, 11,000 loads of snow have been hauled, and Transportation Manager Robert Carroll estimates that there’s still that amount waiting in windrows and snow piles around the city.
