TransAlta announces plans for new cogeneration facility near Fox Creek

TransAlta has announced plans to build a new power-and-steam cogeneration facility at the sour gas processing plant near Fox Creek.

The plant, which will have a capacity of 40 MW and a price tag of around $105 million, will be built via TransAlta, with SemCAMS then purchasing upwards of 50 percent of the facility once completed.

“We are very pleased to collaborate with SemCAMS on this project which will enhance their operational and energy efficiency through on-site cogeneration,” said Dawn Farrell, President and Chief Executive Officer of TransAlta.

“This project represents an important addition to our on-site cogeneration business and we welcome SemCAMS as a valued new customer and partner.”
