MADD Grande Prairie and area looking for volunteers

The group Mothers Against Drunk Driving in the Grande Prairie area is looking for new members. It will be having a volunteer open house on October 4th in order to get more people interested in the organization. Community Leader Tia Marsten says no matter how much time people have to volunteer, everyone is welcome.

“There’s definitely an opportunity for anyone who only has a little bit of time in their day but also people who have a lot of time in their day and they are looking to make a difference in Grande Prairie when it comes to impaired drivers.”

The group does a number of things in the community including putting on school presentations and fundraisers and helping out with check stops along with members of the RCMP. Marsten says they would love to expand their programming in the area but that’s not possible without help.

“We’re really looking for more people so we can go out there more and do more things and become a chapter. As of right now, we’re a community leader status and we want to become a chapter so we want to create a board of directors and we can’t do that without our volunteers.”
