20,000 smiles out for delivery

At least 20,000 people in Grande Prairie will see an extra smile this week. Grande Prairie business owner Sean Sargent is once again delivering 20,000 Tim Horton’s Smile Cookies to schools, hospitals, and public sector programs around the city using a historically accurate A-Team van.

All the money from the sale will go towards the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation, with a focus on pediatric care.

“Our family has been in Grande Prairie doing business for 80 or 90 years now, and we’ve believed in giving back to our community,” says Sargent.

The cookie delivery is something Sargent says he looks forward to every year, especially when it comes to what the simple act of handing over a box of cookies can do for someone else’s day. He adds the underlying desire to help out those who need it most is something that runs deep in the city, and he is happy to be a part of it.

“100 per cent of the cookie price goes to the local hospital foundation. We get to have fun in seeing people smile when they get them, and then they get to have fun enjoying them.”

Sargent has also challenged his colleagues in the business community to join him in the effort to deliver as many smiles as possible.

“If we can go out and buy this many cookies for all the public sector employees, it would be great to see the private sector people go buy cookies as well. It’s a really good feeling to buy them, and, like I said, you get smiles when you get them too; it’s a triple play of goodness.”

Smile Cookies can be purchased at all Tim Horton’s locations in Grande Prairie until September 22nd.
