City holding vehicle-for-hire bylaw public consultations

Grande Prairie residents have a chance to get their concerns heard as the city is holding a week’s worth of engagement sessions around the proposed new vehicle-for-hire bylaw.

Current regulations stem from the business license bylaw initially installed in 2003, but a lack of consistency across the board is something the city says they want to rectify.

“It’s appropriate now with the way industry is changed and how technology is moving to allow companies to be more competitive, more responsive to the communities needs and wants,” said Director of Protective and Social Services Chris Manuel in July.

The drop in public consultation sessions will go from September 10th-13th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City on 99 building,

The city hopes to have the new bylaw fully implemented on January 1, 2020.
