UPDATE: The suspect in an armed robbery at a Grande Prairie convenience store has died in hospital. The 19 year old male was shot by police around 1 a.m. this morning after a confrontation at the store in the area of 97th Street and 84th Avenue. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is now investigating the shooting, and the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. No one else was injured in the fatal incident.
An attempted armed robbery at a Grande Prairie convenience store this morning ended with the 19 year old suspect being taken to hospital.
RCMP were called to the store in the area of 97 Street and 84 Ave around 1 am this morning.
When they arrived, there was a confrontation with the armed robber resulting in officers firing on the man.
The suspect’s condition is not known at this time, no mounties or civilians were harmed during the incident.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team will now be taking over the investigation.
