Whitecourt traffic stop leads to charges for injured man

Whitecourt RCMP have laid charges against a man after a traffic stop on boxing day resulted in two police officers firing their service weapons.

30 year old Luke Louis Kock of no fixed address was pulled over shortly after 10 pm on Friday, and was shot in the arm by an RCMP member.

He was then arrested after attempting to flee from police and hitting another vehicle.

His injuries were not life threatening, and Kock has been charged with 3 counts of assaulting an officer with a weapon (vehicle), fleeing from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of stolen property over $5000.

Another female passenger was also injured in the incident, but has been treated and released from hospital.

The Alberta Serious Incident Resonse Team has taken over the investigation.
