Shots fired by RCMP during Whitecourt traffic stop

Shots were fired by Police shortly after 10 pm last night when Whitecourt RCMP pulled over a vehicle in that town.

Both RCMP members discharged their service pistols and the suspect vehicle fled before colliding with another vehicle.

The suspect was soon stopped without further incident.

The male driver was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No other members of the public were injured.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has now taken over the investigation.
