Disabled parking space added at Wapiti Dunes Trail System entrance

The Wapiti Dunes Trail System in the County of Grande Prairie has become a little more accessible to people dealing with mobility issues. A disabled parking space has been installed at the entrance to the trail. Reeve Leanne Beaupre says a request for the parking space was made by a trail user.

“Our parks and recreation department receives all types of feedback in regards to our trail systems so I’m assuming that they had received a request from someone looking for an opportunity for a disabled parking stall.”

Beaupre says it’s important for the county to make sure all facilities including the trails are accessible to everyone.

“It does provide the opportunity for fresh air and the ability to be outside and so being able to make sure that we provide access to all of those facilities including our trail system is a priority for the County of Grande Prairie.”

The Wapiti Dunes trail is a 5.6-kilometre paved trail located on the south side of the Correction Line Road opposite the road to the Aquatera Landfill.
