UPDATE: Serious injuries in multi-vehicle collision at Highway 2 and Emerson Trail

UPDATE #3: Highway 2 at Emerson Trail had been cleared and it’s back to normal traffic flow after a multi-vehicle collision this afternoon.

#gpabUPDATE #2: The southbound lanes on Highway 2 are now open while northbound traffic is still being diverted via Emerson Trail.  RCMP says a number of people were taken to hospital with serious injuries but there were no fatalities.  It appears an eastbound tanker was pulling onto Highway 2 northbound and three northbound vehicles collided with the tanker. Nothing seems to be leaking from the tanker.  There were two other collisions in the area around the same time and police say visibility was very poor at the time.

UPDATE: One lane of traffic is now open at Emerson Trail and Highway 2.  Traffic is being diverted via Emerson Trail.  Avoid the area if possible or expect further delays.
