Peace Country athletes bring 9 medals home from Western Canada Summer Games

UPDATE: Grande Prairie runner Mairen Lawson also won a gold medal in the female triathlon relay.

Four athletes from the Peace Country are returning to the area with medals from the Western Canada Summer Games.

Grande Prairie swimmer Jordan Greber picked up the most hardware at the games winning silver medals in 1500-metre Freestyle and 200-metre Backstroke and bronze medals in the 400-metre Freestyle and 1500-metre Open Water Swim.

Wrestler Jason Pangracs, also of Grande Prairie, picked up a gold medal in the team competition and a gold medal in the 100-kilogram individual competition.

Keyana Faye Anderson of Sexsmith participated in the discus throw, picking up a bronze medal in the all-female competition and finally, Fairview’s Josh Kinnee won a gold medal with the men’s softball team.

In total, Team Alberta athletes won 299 medals in Swift Current, Saskatchewan including 129 gold, 92 silver and 78 bronze.
