Special Olympics, Reading University receive 2019 MNP Reach Out program

Special Olympics Alberta and Reading University have each received a little over $11,000 as part of the 2019 MNP Reach Out award program.

Reach Out is a program that allows MNP to give back a portion of yearly referral fees to two charities or non-profit organizations in Grande Prairie, with the winners voted on by employees.

Linda Side with Reading University says the funding goes a long way when it comes to allowing kids to better themselves in several ways.

“Last year we had 200 children that attended Reading University, and our cost, gift in cost and hard cash [is about] $2,000. Realistically this puts 11 children through next years program,” she said. “You can’t put a price on that, because the results and return on that investment, are sometimes years down the road, but very positive results for sure.”

Regional Managing Partner for MNP in the Peace Region, Kory Brazel says it’s his honour to be able to give back as much as possible but knows he is not alone in making donations like this possible.

“It couldn’t happen without the support of the community, the clients and of course our staff here at MNP. As business advisors, we know if you don’t support locally and if you don’t have the support of the community you’re not going to succeed.”

In total, the two organizations received a cheque for $23,058.
