UPDATE: Fort McMurray International Airport evacuated after incident

UPDATE: Officials now say the Fort McMurray International Airport terminal has been cleared and passengers are now allowed back in the building. It was evacuated earlier this afternoon due to an incident, which local news agencies report as a passenger making comments about a bomb while on the phone. One man is now in custody after making what police are calling an “idle threat”. Delays are expected due to the incident, so travelers should check with their airlines. More details are expected this afternoon.

Heads up to anyone travelling by air to Fort McMurray today.

Local news agencies report the international airport has been evacuated after Wood Buffalo RCMP was called about a bomb threat.

An Air Canada passenger was reportedly on the phone making comments about a bomb.

MyMcMurray.com says the airport authority would only say that there’s an incident unfolding, but can’t share details as police are involved.
