Peace Country athletes pick up medals at Western Canada Summer Games

A pair of Peace Country athletes have picked up medals so far at the Western Canada Summer Games.

The Alberta men’s softball team picked up a gold medal on August 13th with the help of Fairview’s Josh Kinnee.

13-year-old Grande Prairie Swimmer Jordan Greber has picked up four medals so far this competition. She placed second in both the 1500-metre Freestyle All Female and 200-metre Backstroke All Female and bronze medals in both the 400-metre Freestyle All Female and the 1500-metre Open Water Swim All Female.

Seven athletes from the area are participating in the games including Greber and Kinnee, Triathlete Marian Lawson, Wrestler Jason Pangracs, County Baseball player Tyler Herron and Grande Prairie’s Myah Sluik and Sexsmith’s Keyana Anderson are competing in Athletics.

Altogether, 340 athletes from 57 communities in Alberta are competing in the games. Events run from August 9th to 18th in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
