Signature Support Services in Grande Prairie plans to hold an official grand opening this month to celebrate its new location for the Recycle Plus 1 bottle depot. After around four years of waiting and work, it will host a ribbon cutting and party on August 26th.
Signature Support Services started taking products at this location on May 7th and this is one of two depots in the city currently owned by the group. Since 2015, SSS has planned to move its operation on 96 Avenue and all of the day programs for adults with developmental disabilities held there to the new location on 105 Avenue near Jysk.
The new location hasn’t been without its issues though. In October 2017 and again in May 2018, Springfield Capital Inc., which wanted to buy a neighbouring building, tried to stop construction.
Both appeals were ultimately denied and renovations officially started in December 2018. Signature Support Services will be holding a ribbon cutting and a grand opening celebration on the 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. complete with games, prizes and cake.
