The City of Grande Prairie is looking to honour outstanding volunteers and organizations in the area. Applications are now open for the George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award and Bill Bowes Organization of the Year Award.
The George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes up to three people a year who have made outstanding contributions as volunteers. The award is named after former Mayor George Repka who served on City Council for 10 years.
To qualify for that award, the nominees must have over 20 years of volunteer contributions in the areas of recreation, culture or social services.
The Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization of the Year Award is given to a group that has contributed to the community through services, contributions and community development. Nominees must have helped the community through things like fundraising and volunteering. The organization must also be located within the city limits.
Applications for both awards can be found on the city’s website and can be submitted until October 1st.
