To qualify for that award, the nominees must have over 20 years of volunteer contributions in the areas of recreation, culture or social services.

The Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization of the Year Award is given to a group that has contributed to the community through services, contributions and community development. Nominees must have helped the community through things like fundraising and volunteering. The organization must also be located within the city limits.
